Summer School 2026
3rd-9th August
The INTBAU Kenya Summer School 2026 brought students and practitioners together in Mombasa’s Old Town to explore Swahili architecture, traditional craftsmanship, and urban heritage conservation. Through lectures, site visits, and design workshops, participants reimagined Government Square using context-sensitive design rooted in local culture and architectural traditions.
Summer School 2027
4th-18th July
The INTBAU Kenya Summer School 2027 proposes to explore the conservation and adaptive reuse of colonial buildings, particularly those that are derelict or no longer serve their original purpose. It aims to reinterpret their historical significance and develop context-sensitive approaches that reconnect these buildings with contemporary community needs.
